Battered/Formerly Battered Women Task ForceThe Battered/Formerly Battered Women's Task Force is the foundation of the Coalition and provides expertise and support to all factions of the organization. The Task Force members serve on all the major committees to ensure that appropriate services, public relations materials, and policies are being developed. The Task Force reviews curriculum materials for relevancy and impact on battered women and their families. The Task Force also provides speakers and expertise to the new and emerging programs when needed. Task Force membership is open to anyone who is interested in the work they are undertaking. Current Projects Federal Marriage Promotion: Task Force members are concerned about the marriage promotion initiative and funding connected with federal reauthorization of the Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF) program and its potential implications for survivors of domestic violence. They have agreed to lead the discussion within MCADSV's membership to decide how involved the Coaltion should be at the state level and whether member programs should consider applying for marriage promotion money. Task Force members are also collecting positive quotes from victims of violence regarding the support they have received from different agencies. These quotes would be used to educate legislators and other policymakers about the influence their decisions have on individual lives. Meeting Schedule The Task Force meets once a month, usually via a teleconference. The next scheduled meeting is at the July 18-19, 2007 MCADSV Membership meeting in Hamilton.
