Sexual Violence Task ForceThe Sexual Violence Task Force strives to supplement the needs of the organizations that serve sexual assault victims/survivors. An emphasis is placed on the unique needs of rural, reservation, and underserved populations. The Task Force provides professional education to individuals that work with victims/survivors; increases public awareness; addresses the needs of middle- and high-school students, teachers, counselors, administrators, higher education communities, and special needs populations; and provides technical assistance and on-going support to sexual assault crisis intervention programs. The Task Force develops collaborative relationships with state associations and local organizations that will increase communication, decrease the duplication of work, and promote cooperation among service providers. This fiscal year's projects include continuing public awareness campaigns about sexual assault, invitations to college campuses to join the Coalition and participate in Task Force trainings and other work, and implementing the first Sexual Assault Advocate Training Institute. Current Projects The Sexual Violence Task Force is currently planning the Coalition's Sexual Assault Advocate Training Institute, scheduled for May 4-7, 2009. Drawing on knowledge and field experience of Coalition members, this training will provide interactive skill-building opportunities for both new and seasoned sexual assault advocates. Meeting Schedule The Sexual Violence Task Force meets during MCADSV member meetings and by conference call at pre-arranged times.
